Amy with P2 cameraPurple Macaroni Productions is the umbrella name for filmmaker Amy Beth O’Brien. Amy has been making movies since 2002 when she came on board as editor for the documentary “The London Experience,” produced by Windy Borman (DVA Productions).  Since then, she has produced several short films and a half hour documentary. Her films have played in online festivals, and recently her short film “Four” was selected for the 35th Northwest Film and Video Festival in Portland, OR.

Although she primarily produces original films, Amy also works with other filmmakers, usually as editor. Recently, she signed on as editor for the untitled documentary about the Third Rail Theatre Company, produced by Cassie Cohn. Also, Amy is interested in collaborating with other women filmmakers to further the visibility of women in film.

Amy received her bachelor’s degree in Theater Arts (business minor) from the University of Oregon in 2002. Soon after, she moved to Portland and began taking classes at the Northwest Film Center to explore the art of filmmaking. She completed several courses there, and built up a substantial student portfolio. One student film, “How To Chill,” played several times at various venues, including local television.
